Calculate Your Sun Sign
Find the Sun's tropical zodiac sign at your birth, using a calculated position rather than a fixed date-range table. No account is needed.
Quick guide
What to know first
The Sun changes signs at a particular instant, not at local midnight on a fixed calendar date.
Birth city supplies coordinates and the historical timezone for your entered time.
An unknown time uses local noon; a result near a sign boundary may therefore change.
A Sun sign is one part of a chart, not a complete description of a person.
Why cusp dates need more than a birthday
A date-range horoscope can give a useful rough label, but the Sun's sign entry varies with year and timezone. Two people born on the same calendar date in different years can have different Sun signs. This calculator converts the entered local time to a UTC instant and computes the Sun's ecliptic longitude. Dividing that longitude into 30-degree intervals determines the displayed tropical sign.
What the result can help you reflect on
Astrological tradition associates the Sun with identity, intention and a sense of direction. Treat those associations as questions: which activities feel chosen rather than performed for approval, and which commitments deserve more attention? A sign cannot establish your abilities or explain every decision. Compare the theme with your actual experience and allow counterexamples.
Reading an estimated result honestly
If you do not know the time, the chart uses noon and labels the calculation estimated. That convention does not recover your actual birth time. On a boundary date, check a reliable birth record before treating the sign as settled. The accompanying Moon and Rising results have their own time sensitivity. The calculation method explains the engine and house system; the Moon calculator explores a different chart factor.
Common questions
Frequently asked questions
Can I have two Sun signs?
At a particular instant, the calculated longitude belongs to one tropical sign. Uncertain birth details may leave uncertainty about which side of a boundary applies; they do not create a second simultaneous Sun placement.
Does this use sidereal astrology?
No. This tool uses the tropical zodiac. A sidereal calculator uses a different reference convention and may show another sign without either calculator using the same method incorrectly.
Do I need to register before calculating?
No. The calculation is available without an account. Registration is optional when you choose to save the full chart to your Blueprint.
